In Ghana’s growing real estate market, due diligence has never been more important. As more Ghanaians and members of the Expat & Diaspora community invest in property, Building Inspectors of Ghana (BIG) has launched a new initiative aimed at protecting buyers and empowering agents through education, resources, and practical tools.

BIG is partnering with real estate agents, brokerages, and developers to train professionals on the importance of professional home inspections before purchase or lease. The goal is simple — ensure every buyer, seller, and agent understands the crucial role inspections play in preventing costly mistakes, identifying hidden defects, and promoting trust in real estate transactions.

During these training sessions, agents learn to:

  • Explain inspection benefits confidently to clients

To support this initiative, BIG has created two powerful resources for agents and clients:

  1. “Why Do I Need a Home Inspection?” – a concise, easy-to-understand document that explains what a home inspection covers, the risks of skipping it, and how it protects both buyer and agent interests.

  2. Inspection Waiver Form – for clients who choose not to proceed with an inspection, this form formally records their decision, protecting the agent from future liability while encouraging informed choices.

These tools are designed to raise the standard of professionalism in Ghana’s real estate industry, ensuring transparency and accountability at every step of a transaction.
